Malini Krishnankutty

Dr. Malini Krishnankutty, is an urban planner with wide experience in spatial planning in India. Over the last two decades, she has served as a consultant on several urban planning projects, city development plans, and regional plans (most recently for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region). Currently, an Adjunct Associate Professor at IIT Bombay, she has a Ph.D. (2018) in Habitat Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and graduate degrees (M. Arch & M. City Planning 1994) from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. Recently, she served as a member of the Working group on Spatial Planning of the Sixth Finance Commission, Government of Kerala. Her research has focused on sustainable urban planning in the global South, periurban development, and tracing the historical underpinnings of modern urban planning in India.
