Bose Krishnamachari Features in ArtReview’s Power 100 list for 2024
Bose Krishnamachari, the founder and president of the Kochi muziris Biennale, has once again got listed in the prestigious ArtReview’s Power 100 list, highlighting the world’s 100 most influential personalities in the field of art. This recognition comes from the internationally acclaimed ArtReview magazine. Ranked 52nd on the list, Bose joins a celebrated group of artists, thinkers, curators, gallerists, museum directors, and art collectors shaping the contemporary art world. This is not Bose’s first appearance in the Power 100 list.He was listed in last year’s list too.
Renowned as an artist, curator, and scenographer, Bose Krishnamachari has played a pivotal role in the Indian contemporary art scene. With his base in both Mumbai and Kochi, he has organised numerous significant art exhibitions both in India and internationally.
In 2010, he co-founded the Kochi Biennale Foundation and conceptualised the inaugural Kochi Biennale in 2012, where he also served as co-curator. In 2016, he took on the role of curator for the first edition of the Yinchuan Biennale in China. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists and curators is widely lauded.
Bose is also recognised as a ‘Gallerist.’ In October, he opened a contemporary art, design and technology based gallery space within a design salone, Dtale.
Bose Krishnamachari has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including those from the Kerala Lalithakala Academy, British Council, Bombay Art Society, Charles Wallace Trust, the United States Information Society, Forbes, India Today, Trends, FHM, and GQ Men of the Year, ’Game Changer of the Year’ Asia Society Award and many more.
The ArtReview magazine, which has released the Power 100 list, is a London-based publication with additional operations in Hong Kong. Established in 1949, it is regarded as one of the most authoritative voices in contemporary art. The Power 100 list has been an annual feature since 2002, curated by an international panel of esteemed art professionals from across the globe.
