Probing What Really Happened At the Kumbh Mela
In this interaction, Dr. DK Giri, Author, Academic and Chairperson of Schumacher Centre, New Delhi points towards an inquiry launched by a group of social observers and academics into the happenings during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, held between January 13 and February 26, 2025, including the actual number of deaths in the stampede of 28-29 January. Dr. Giri states that this inquiry is part of a larger study which seeks to find out the contemporary sociological impact of all religions on devotees.
