In this PollTalk writer and political activist Yogendra Yadav says that the 2024 Lok Sabha polls have given a fresh breath of life to Indian democracy and people’s movements. He lists several positives, including the dwindling influence of Hindutva politics and the reversals BJP suffered in the areas with large farming communities.
He also listed BJP’s rising influence in South India as a positive, which would work against a possible North-South divide. But Yadav emphasised that, beyond all these encouraging signs, the struggles to strengthen democracy have to continue with enhanced vigour.
