As Tripura votes on Thursday in the elections to the 60-member Assembly, political observers have more or less unanimously termed it as an even contest between the ruling BJP and the principal opposition combine consisting of the Left parties and the Congress. The presence of ‘Tipra Motha’ led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who belongs to the erstwhile royal family of Tripura, has added an interesting third dimension. His dramatic speech on the last day of the campaign branding conventional politics as dirty and promising new paths after the elections has added to the intrigue quotient of the current round of elections. This AIDEM Special Discussion with a panel of senior journalists looks at these factors. Participants: Suvojit Bagchi in Agartala and Venkitesh Ramakrishnan, Managing Editor, The AIDEM. Anchored by senior journalist Anand Kochukudy.
