In this powerful speech, Siddharth Varadarajan, senior journalist and co-founder of The Wire delineates how fellow journalist Ziya Us Salam, Associate Editor of The Hindu, was discriminated against at the Delhi airport when they sought to board the same flight and had air tickets with similar mistakes in their names. But Siddharth was allowed to board the flight while Ziya was stopped.
Siddharth points out in the speech that this incident itself has become a metaphor for the narratives in Ziya’s book, “Being a Muslim in Hindu India – A Critical View”. Siddharth was speaking at the book release function of the Malayalam translation of Ziya Us Salam’s book at Kochi, Kerala.
